Crude Oil, also known as West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is the highest quality light, sweet crude oil available. WTI is important in the market because it is an oil benchmark. It is extracted primarily from land based oil fields in the southern & Midwest USA and also in the Gulf of Mexico. WTI oil is refined locally in the Midwest and is now exported globally.
